Winsham Art Club meets on Monday afternoons between 2.00 & 4.00 pm in the relaxed and informal atmosphere of the Jubilee Hall. New members and visitors of all abilities are always welcome. Come along and joins us! For further information just call Barbara Childs (30440) or Heather Munn (30379) Spring Newsletter,2008The Workshop on 10th March with Dale Hudson was both informative and enjoyable. Unfortunately, due to various unforeseen circumstances, plus the bad weather, only six members were present. This was a great pity as it was our last chance to benefit from Dale's expertise as he will be moving to Wales in May. The Coffee Morning at Jane Dickie's was well attended with six paintings on the theme "Spring" being passed around for everyone to admire, including a left-handed "scene" by Keith - well done! Thank you Jane and John for an enjoyable morning. DIARY DATES Monday. 31st March - Workshop with Bette Hardinge Smith Bette, who needs no introduction, is kindly finding the time in her busy schedule to come on the 31s, when she will be happy to give guidance and advice on any painting/s with which you are experiencing, or have experienced problems IN ANY MEDIA - an opportunity too good to be missed! Monday 14th April - Workshop with Michael Chappell Michael, who also needs little or no introduction, will be with us on the 14th when he will be tutoring a Stage by Stage Landscape Workshop in Water Colours. You may, of course, choose to use your preferred medium. Michael's Workshops are always enjoyable. Tuesday 15th April - Coffee Morning Ros and Mike Balcon of the Coach House, Oaklands, Chard, are kindly hosting our April Coffee Morning. The painting subject for this month is, surprise, surprise, "April", so we are hoping for a good variety of pictures! If you are unable to join us on this occasion a, 'phone call to Ros/Mike - 01460 63060, would be appreciated as it does help to have an idea of the numbers to expect. Monday 21st April - Workshop with Jill Preston Jill Preston, who comes from Yeovil, may not be a name you are familiar with, but some of you may have seen samples of her work at a recent exhibition at The Meeting House, Ilminster. Jill has chosen Techniques and Textures using Mixed Media as the subject for her Workshop. This promises to be of interest to everyone. 28th April and 19th May - Workshops with Josephine Hamilton Jo Hamilton is a Beaminster Artist/Art Teacher. One of her most popular Workshops is an all day session on Portraiture. Jo has agreed, on this occasion, to spread this workshop over two sessions for us. You will need to bring a CLEAR photograph, preferably just head and shoulders, of the person whose portrait you wish to create, plus materials for your preferred medium. Sounds challenging, but some amazing results are achieved! Tuesday 13* May - Coffee Morning This will be the final Coffee Morning before the Summer Break and will be hosted by Nancy Bailiff at 26 Church Street. The theme for this month's painting is "Green", so get your imagination working! Once again, a 'phone call to Nancy - 01460 30348 would be much appreciated if you are unable to come. Monday 2nd June - Garden Painting The first of our Summer Garden Painting afternoons will be in Nancy Sawyer's lovely garden at Westvale, Leigh. We hope the weather will be kind to us, but in any case this garden has ample shelter. The dates and venues for July and August have yet to be confirmed, but will be advised later. Saturday 28th June - Street Fair We are still waiting to know the location of our Stall. Finally, please make a note of all the foregoing dates. Also try to make a concerted effort to attend as many Workshops as you can. We appreciate that they might not all be to everyone's taste, and at this time of year the garden beckons, but by coming along you may not only be pleasantly surprised but also, and most importantly, you will be supporting the Club.
