Become a 'WINSHAM WALKER!

Winsham Walkers grew out of the four walks which were arranged by the Millennium Committee in the year 2000.   These walks are fully described in the Winsham 2000 Millennium Book.

It is an informal group which has no structure and each person is responsible for their own health and safety.   Well behaved dogs are welcome but their owners must be responsible for them at stiles, on roads and when stock is encountered.

Since its inception the walks have generally been led by Peter Pye and reports are published in the Joint Parish Magazine together with details of the next walk.   When Peter is not available Carl Earl has often kindly stepped in to fill the role.

Walks are held monthly, generally on the first Thursday of each month and most often start at The Bell at 10.30 a.m and finish at the same venue approximately 2½ hours later.  Distances covered are usually between 4 and 6 miles,  sometimes a little more.   Occasionally we have caught a bus from the village and walked back.   From time to time special all day walks are arranged. e.g.  Dartmoor and coastal walks.

Notice of the next walk appears in the Joint Parish Magazine Diary, the Winsham e-letter, by computer mail shot and a poster is displayed in the shop.  Also details of special walks are conveyed by word of mouth
