PM Cover

Following Roy Smart's recent appeal for assistance with the magazine, he has decided that it is time for him to step down after over six years. In that time I calculate that he has been responsible for over 76 issues, and we are enormously indebted to all the hard work and experience which he has given so freely. He will continue to be involved with the magazine as an advisor, but on behalf of the readers and committee we send our very best wishes to him to enjoy a more relaxed time in which press deadlines will not feature.

We are most grateful to Eve Higgs of Thorncombe who responded to the call and will be joining the editorial team. We are so fortunate to have again found in midst someone who has a media background, and can maintain professional standards which have achieved over the years. Eve will take responsibility for the final layout, the able assistance of Melanie and Anna providing continuity at the copy editing end. You will therefore see some changes in layout in this issue and the months, and we look forward to feedback.

   The Joint Parish Magazine has a distribution of some 450 copies each month, the great majority purchased by annual subscription, with a deliverey service. Publication date is the last Sunday of the month preceding the cover date.
It reaches some two thirds of the residents of Cricket St.Thomas, Winsham and Thorncombe. It has been published without break for some 25 years.  The editorial policy is to present church and secular news in a balanced manner. It also carries a considerable volume of advertising from local suppliers of goods and services, which plays an important role in keeping the cover price  low.
The Magazine provides advanced publicity of village and community events, and also provides a very important vehicle for the reporting of these events once they have taken place. The magazine also publishes pictures in colour and Black & White.

Guidance for sending copy for publication is given below:

To save the editorial team preparation time, could those e-mailing copy please use 12pt Times single spaced unjustified for the text, leave just one space between sentences and put your heading in caps and sign-off in caps.

All e-copy should be sent to the Hotmail box not private e-mails. Contributors of photos of minors submitted for publication must have parents' written permission and are responsible for copyright. .Any written material, drawings and photos copied from books, the internet, etc may be a copyright breech which can lead to legal proceedings unless written permission is obtained from the author or creator. If you miss the copy deadline we cannot guarantee inclusion as we work to a tight schedule to a tight schedule to ensure you get your magazine in time, at the beginning of each month.
