Jubilee Hall's Leigh House Event 2008

The Leigh House mid-summer event, thanks to the kindness of Clifford & David has become the main fund raising event for the village hall, and on Saturday,5th July, record numbers bought tickets. The picnic party held in the beautiful grounds of Leigh House makes an unbeatable setting for a very popular evening, with music provided by the Tone Valley Jazz Band.

Well that is what was intended, but it all went wrong!
It rained, and it rained and it rained. Gale force winds buffeted the marquees, which at times seemed as if they might take off.
All in all the evening seemed set to be a terrible failure.

But it was a great success! In true Brit style the adversity brought out the best and before long, people were saying that it was one of the best evenings they remember , and certainly one that they wouldn't forget in a hurry!!

And here is the proof-and we all know that pictures never lie....

Early arrivals took precautions

Organiser Sarah Gleadell hoped for the best and kept cheerful
