around the village

This section of our Parish Web Site will, I hope, become a 'regular'. It is intended to provide a platform for the snippets of information that could be usefully spread around. Not the sort of thing that fits a full notice. What follows is typical of the sort of thing people would like to know. But it needs your contributions, so just give me a call on 30026 or send me an e-mail

Some news from Trish Baxter:-

Fresh Fish

FRESH FISH.

Some of you will have noticed that Daren Robinson has restarted his fresh fish round. Of course he is also available Saturday mornings at Chard market but it is so convenient to have fish delivered to the door. He comes on Wednesday afternoons arriving via Court Street at about 2-2.30 pm. reaching Davis Close about half an hour later after circling the village.

He does honk when arriving but with all the various outside noises plus thick stone walls it is easy to miss him so my suggestion is for you to make a cardboard notice saying FISH and your house number and put it somewhere conspicuous. He will then knock on your door You can also phone him to ask him to call on 01460 239118 or 07811 951676

Stagecoach have been told by John Perrott (SSDC) them that if they take the buses off the 90 route unexpectedly they MUST check the bus stop in case people are waiting to at least let them know so they don't stand hopefully in the cold. (as happened just beforeBus stop Christmas when we got into Chard and found ourselves stranded. Incidentally if you don't  have a mobile phone make your way to Coop-- the woman in the kiosk has a direct taxi line.)

Tiger A strange cat has appeared in our back garden recently, scavenging food. There is always some around since we feed a long term stray...and the thrushes are partial to cat food. This cat looks well fed but it has only been around for about three weeks, so it may be a stray. If no one claims it I will report it a stray but it may be just a recently-moved in cat that is stretching its territory. It is so distinctive it will be easy to identify. Its head and tail area is a brown and black tortoiseshell pattern plus two
small blobs on its upper spine and all the rest pure white. unusual.
